Citizenship Ceremonies at Blue Mountains City Council

Becoming a citizen represents a commitment to Australia and its people. It gives a sense of belonging because you can fully participate in all aspects of Australian life. It represents the beginning of a new period in a person's life, demonstrating their allegiance to Australia and the Australian way of life.

If you have applied for Citizenship, the Department of Immigration and Border Protection will notify you of the date and timing of your Ceremony which will be hosted by Council. If you have any enquiries about the date of your ceremony please call the Citizenship Information Line on 131 880.

  • Saturday 6 May 2017 – Location: Katoomba Community Hall, Town Centre Arcade Katoomba
  • Saturday 29 July 2017 – Location: Springwood – Blue Mountains Theatre and Community Hub
  • Saturday 28 October 2017 – Location: Katoomba TBC (Cultural Centre/ BMCC Chamber

2018

Blue Mountains City Council holds a Citizenship Ceremony approximately every 3 months which is presided over by the Mayor of the Blue Mountains.

Once a candidate is approved for Australian Citizenship, the Department of Immigration and Border Protection will send a letter to advise the candidate when they will be allocated to a ceremony.

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection allocates candidates to attend a ceremony as all candidate information is handled by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection. Council does not have access to candidate information. 
 

If you are invited to attend a ceremony and are unable to attend you will be allocated to another ceremony date by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.
