Blue Mountains City Council

Waste and Recycling

The Blue Mountains City Council waste service has been designed to increase recycling, reduce waste to landfill and meet the needs of the majority of our 34,000 households.

However, no matter what initiatives we come up with to deal with all the waste, consumerism is increasing and our population is growing. This means the amount of waste we generate could continue to rise.

Council provides the services to help residents establish responsible habits in sorting their waste. However, the real solution to Australia’s waste problems start with our purchasing decisions.

RETHINKING what and how much stuff we buy and use is the best habit in reducing waste to landfill.
