The Blue Mountains Integrated Transport Strategic Plan (ITSP) 2035 has been prepared to provide a wide framework that brings together strategies, actions and performance measures to deliver an integrated transport network.

It was developed in two parts:

  • Provide a strategic context for BMCC to advocate to the NSW Government for improvement to state roads and public transport services.
  • Provide a policy framework to guide the detailed planning of the Blue Mountains’ traffic and transport services and infrastructure.
  • Provide a strategic context to enable BMCC to prioritise strategies and actions.

The actions identified in the Blue Mountains ITSP have been developed in response to the specific needs of the Blue Mountains community with reference to existing best practice and with the recognition of the important role of local government in providing a sustainable multi-modal transport network.

The aim of the ITSP is to ensure that the Blue Mountains maintains and builds the capacity to grow, by implementing selective traffic and transport infrastructure. The ITSP framework specifically caters to the needs of the Blue Mountains. It contains strategies and actions to move the transport network forward in a sustainable way.
