The Citywide Parking Strategic Plan was adopted by Council in March 2018.

The supply and management of vehicle parking is an important issue. Using data collected over time, the Citywide Parking Strategic Plan looks at parking trends across the city, and issues such as commuter parking, town and village centre parking and visitor destinations.

The Plan makes recommendations for the whole City, and for individual towns, villages and tourism destinations- providing a framework to guide parking infrastructure over the next 10-15 years. It aims to strike a balance between current and future parking needs, business and resident needs and protecting the village character and natural environment of the Blue Mountains.

The focus is on improving the management of existing parking areas, including improving the turnover of vehicles. A key recommendation is to prepare Parking Precinct Plans for locations that are under parking pressure- investigating options such as electronic sensor parking and changes to time restrictions.
