Council raises concerns about proposed Woolworths development at Springwood
Blue Mountains City Council has not opposed the proposed Woolworths development in Springwood per se and has expressed no view on the overall proposal.
However, the Council is concerned about the concept in relation to its potential impact on the Blue Mountains Theatre.
The elected Council, at the 28 July Council Meeting, voted to make a submission objecting to the proximity of the proposed supermarket’s loading dock and mechanical plant to the shared boundary between the two sites. The submission highlights the risk that noise from the supermarket site may impact on the theatre experience.
The Council is concerned about the development’s potential impact on the Blue Mountains Theatre, its patrons, performers and the wider performing arts community.
The submission, outlining this concern, has been made to the panel responsible for determining the development application.
