Council appoints advisor
Blue Mountains City Council General Manager Rosemary Dillon has engaged Mr Ian Reynolds, a respected public sector specialist, as a temporary advisor to work with Council in addressing current challenges and reviewing its organisational performance.
“I welcome Mr Reynolds to the role,” Ms Dillon said.
“The Council has faced significant challenges over the past few months arising from serious allegations related to the organisation’s management of asbestos and to a range of other matters including workplace safety and culture.
“While the Council has acted swiftly to address these issues, it is an opportune time to call on the expertise of an experienced, senior public sector practitioner such as Mr Reynolds to help with current challenges and support and strengthen our ongoing organisational development.”
Mr Reynolds has a career spanning over 35 years including senior executive and CEO roles in Local and State government with extensive experience in organisational development and leadership, governance, corporate direction, public policy, infrastructure and urban planning.
“I look forward to working with Mr Reynolds in our endeavours to achieve continuous improvement in our organisation,” Ms Dillon said.
Mayor, Councillor Mark Greenhill, supports the engagement of Mr Reynolds, saying: “I worked with Mr Reynolds in the early 2000s when I was President of WSROC. He is an inspiring leader.
“This is one of many steps we are taking that will hold the organisation in good stead to meet our current challenges and to better serve our City and community into the future.”
Mr Reynolds has been engaged on a part time basis for a period of three months.
