Celebrate Together at the Seniors Festival this February

13 Jan 2023

The Seniors Festival is back again for another year, and Council is celebrating with a month-long program of events from 1-28 February.

This year’s festival theme is ‘Celebrate Together’ and all the events are designed to bring seniors together to relax and enjoy themselves.

Blue Mountains Mayor, Councillor Mark Greenhill said: “We often talk about ‘seniors’ as one group but the truth is seniors are as unique and varied in their lives, personalities, interests and beliefs as anyone else.

“The one thing they do have in common is that they are incredibly valued members of our society, and their contributions often go unseen.

“The Seniors Festival is a wonderful reminder of their special place in our community, and an opportunity to shine a light on them and the value they add to all of our lives.

“It is also an opportunity to encourage older people to lead active lifestyles and participate at all levels in our community.”

The Blue Mountains population is ageing, with almost 20% over 65 years of age.

It’s vitally important that we continue to care for our elderly and acknowledge and celebrate the remarkable contributions they make to our local community.

Download the program, and register for the events you want to attend.

The NSW Seniors Festival (formerly Seniors Week) is held every year and is the largest festival for seniors in the Southern Hemisphere.
