Bike Week 2019 – Free Bike Skills & Bike Maintenance Workshops
Due to the wet weather, these workshops have been postponed until Saturday, 28 September.
Cycling is a joy for children and it can help them stay fit. It’s also good for the environment! That’s why starting them early is a great idea and we’re here to help – with free bike skills workshops.
As part of NSW Bike Week, Blue Mountains City Council is offering two workshops for kids on Saturday, 21 September at Lapstone Netball Courts. The workshops are aimed at different age categories for children and they’re a fun way to improve confidence and practical riding skills, with instruction from qualified cycling trainers.
The free workshops, from 10am-12pm are:
• Junior workshop (5 to 9 years)
• Older kids workshop (10 to 13 years)
An Adults Bike Maintenance Workshop will also be held, covering basic bike maintenance, from 1pm-3pm (for 14 years to adults) at the same location.
What you need to know:
• Bring your bike, helmet and wear closed shoes, for all workshops.
• Kids must be accompanied by a parent or carer.
• No training wheels. Kids need to be able to ride unassisted.
• Workshop participants will also receive a free show bag.
NSW Bike Week is a NSW Government initiative that raises the profile of cycling as a healthy, easy and environmentally-friendly alternative to driving for short trips in our community.
The workshops will now be held at Lapstone Netball Courts, Explorers Rd, Lapstone on Saturday, 28 September. For more information go to bmcc.nsw.gov.au/cycling or to book into a workshop, contact Council’s Road Safety Coordinator on 4780 5000.
