A new, more convenient booked waste service coming soon
From 1 August, Council is moving to a more convenient, one-service model for the booked waste service.
The new streamlined service will combine the collection of household items with the removal of green waste for recycling, as part of a single booked service for residents.
That means residents will no longer have to choose between a ‘Bulky Waste service’ or ‘Chipping service’, making it a one-stop-shop for bulky waste removal.
The change is being made to make the booked service more convenient for residents to use.
Bookings for the current Chipping service will close on 1 July.
Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said: “Once again this is an example of Council listening to our residents and delivering an improvement to our services.
“Streamlining the booked waste service is something the community told us they want, and doing this will allow for more flexibility as we’ll now be able to collect a broader range of green waste than ever before.
“During the recent bush fires we offered additional green waste collections and free green waste drop off at our Waste Management Facilities, both of which were well-utilised by residents making their homes bush fire-ready.
“During that time, the community told Council that having the option to have garden waste removed from their property all year-round would be a great help in bush-fire preparation.
“This change in service will help make fire preparation easier for households throughout the year.”
