Council has upgraded footpaths in Katoomba Town Centre thanks to $870,000 in funding from the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.

This project delivered new footpath, kerb and gutters from the southern side of the pedestrian crossing on Gang Gang Street, down the eastern side of Katoomba Street to the Council car park (next door to St Canice's Primary School).

The upgrade was primarily completed in July, 2021, but finishing touches are ongoing (due to COVID-19 restrictions that have affected the external contractor based in Sydney).

The continued improvement of the Town Centre footpaths follows improvements delivered at Bathurst Road to the Carrington Hotel in 2012, and near the post office and Pioneer Place in 2014.
