Council is upgrading footpaths in Katoomba Town Centre thanks to $870,000 in funding from the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.

This project is delivering new footpath, kerb and gutters from the southern side of the pedestrian crossing on Gang Gang Street, down the eastern side of Katoomba Street to the Council car park (next door to St Canice's Primary School).

The project is being delivered in 3 stages. The expected completion date is mid-June, 2021.

All businesses are still accessible to pedestrians.  Access will remain open to all shops and businesses throughout the project. Where necessary, pathways are being created so pedestrians can be diverted around the works.

Tree plantings will remain and Council will refurbish any impacted street furniture.

The continued improvement of the Town Centre footpaths follows improvements delivered at Bathurst Road to the Carrington Hotel in 2012, and near the post office and Pioneer Place in 2014.
