Graduate Engineer (Civil, Traffic or Environmental) - V18/4436

Blue Mountains City Council has an opportunity for a recent or impending graduate engineer to be a part of its transport and infrastructure planning team. The position will be working in a small technical team which includes a traffic engineer and strategic and infrastructure planners. This role will see the successful individual assisting and being mentored by experienced project managers and project engineers working on exciting new projects within the Blue Mountains, such as delivering the recently adopted Integrated Transport Strategic; Visitor Infrastructure Investment; City Wide Parking Strategic Plans and the highly significant Western City Deal.

The Blue Mountains is one of the most popular tourist destinations, environmental diverse and sensitive areas in Australia, which in itself offers many challenges and rewarding experiences. 

Project areas may include:

•    Investigation and planning of traffic and transport infrastructure.
•    Implementation of Pedestrian Access and Mobility and Bicycle strategies.
•    Engineering input on Town Centre master planning and related projects.
•    Traffic Management Plans.
•    Engineering input on environmental, heritage, recreation, tourism and building projects.
•    Stormwater and Flood Management.

This position will also assist with broader infrastructure plans and strategies for the Blue Mountains, including input into assets works plans.

•    Relevant or related tertiary qualifications in Traffic, Civil or Environmental Engineering.
•    Impending graduates of above qualifications will be considered.
•    A good knowledge of Project Management and Asset Management principles.
•    Understanding of transport, strategic planning or civil projects.
•    Developed interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills.
•    Developed negotiation and problem solving skills.
•    Commitment to, understanding of and ability to deal with the community consultation process.
•    Commitment to customer service.
•    Understanding and/or experience in the collection and analysis of traffic data & traffic management.

Family Day Care Childcare Services Officer - V18/4439

You will be required to train, support, mentor and resource Family Day Care educators assisting them to develop quality childcare routines and early learning programs to meet the needs of children in care and their families.  

You will also be required to assess the quality of childcare provided by Family Day Care educators, monitoring compliance with the Education and Care Services National Law, the National Standard and State Regulations, the National Quality Framework, the NSW Department of Education requirements and Family Day Care Service policies

You will hold a Degree in Early Childhood Education or Diploma in Children’s Services plus have relevant experience in children’s services including experience in implementing early learning programs for children aged 0 – 12 years in line with the requirements of the National Quality Framework. You must also hold a current drivers’ licence and have access to a reliable vehicle. 

Salary:  commencing at $1120.30 gross per week (including Award Car Allowance for use of own vehicle).

Public Programs Coordinator - V18/4440

The primary role of the position is the design and management of high quality, innovative education and interpretive programs to provide access by a broad audience to the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre’s exhibitions.  Organisation of public programs and education services, interpretation and information activities and management of the volunteer program.  The position is full-time from Tuesday to Saturday.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic and innovative thinker with a passion for developing inspiring public programs to cater for all ages and interests.  Their enthusiasm will be backed by relevant tertiary qualifications and at least 3-years experience in a similar position.  The candidate will have demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills, including proven abilities in public presentations such as lectures.  Experience with managing diverse groups of people, particularly volunteers will be of great benefit, together with friendly and engaging people skills.

This position is located at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre – Katoomba.

Salary:  commencing at $1419.90 gross per week (plus penalty rates for Saturday work).

Manager, Governance & Risk - V18/4446

A great opportunity exists for an experienced Governance & Risk Manager to join Councils management team on a 6 month contract. Reporting to the Group Manager People, Culture & Systems, this position will work closely with the Executive Leadership Team to lead and manage the development and integration of organisational wide Governance & Risk strategies and plans to ensure all risks are identified and managed appropriately.

Your degree level qualifications and/or equivalent experience in a relevant field and demonstrated ability to work with executive leadership staff will enable you to achieve organisational outcomes.  Your interpersonal skills and ability to lead and coach all levels of employees will ensure engagement aligned to workforce strategies. You will have demonstrated experience in managing projects and organisation change.

The Strategic Regional Procurement Specialist is a new role aimed at achieving the objectives of the RSA through procurement across the member councils.

You must good eye for detail cleaning of high profile buildings and office spaces, including facilities such as Springwood Hub, Katoomba Cultural Centre and other high profile sites.  The successful applicant much be able to work as part of a team and provide support to other staff members and be willing to undergo any necessary training that is required by the organisation.

You must have minimum 5 years experience cleaning in high profile buildings and office spaces and must be able to adapt to an ever changing dynamic working environment.  An understanding of WHS requirements & EEO responsibilities are essential.

Salary:  commencing at $30.38 gross per hour.
