Our knowledge and understanding of heritage is developed through investigating the significance and historical context of items and places. Local historical societies, cultural organisations, and the Blue Mountains Library and Local Studies Collection are invaluable repositories of local heritage knowledge.

Identified heritage items, heritage conservation areas and declared Aboriginal places are listed in Schedule 5 of the Blue Mountains Local Environmental Plan 2015 (LEP)

Detailed information on listed heritage items and places can be found by searching the State Heritage Inventory or the Aboriginal Heritage Information Management System (AHIMS).

To view listed heritage items and places on Council’s interactive mapping tool select the “LEP 2015 Heritage” layer.
