We’re leading by example and being a Good Neighbour by partnering with the Rapid Relief Team to deliver food boxes to vulnerable residents who are self-isolating.

Emergency Food Boxes for residents in need

Seniors and people with disabilities in the Blue Mountains who are self-isolating due to COVID-19, and have no access to essential supplies, will receive Emergency Food Boxes thanks to a partnership between Council and the volunteer not-for-profit organisation, Rapid Relief Team.

The Food Boxes – that contain a variety of non-perishable, long-life food – are free and will be delivered to the doors of self-isolating households that meet the criteria of the program.

This initiative will help relieve pressure during the COVID-19 pandemic on those who are most vulnerable in our community, and is a small way that Council can assist those in our community who need help the most during this crisis.

All requests for the Food Boxes will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and will be prioritised based on those in greatest need. Recipients will be informed of the delivery details of their Food Box.

There is limited choice of products provided and Council may not be able to cater for dietary and cultural requirements.

Any resident can call Council to receive information and if they are not eligible, we will do our best to connect them with other assistance that is available within the community.

If you are a Blue Mountains resident over the age of 65, or are living with a disability, and are in urgent need please contact Council at goodneighbour@bmcc.nsw.gov.au or call 4723 5000 (Lower Mountains) or 4780 5000 (Upper Mountains).

If you know someone who may be eligible for this program, please contact Council.
