Personalised recovery support

Step by Step Recovery Support Service is a personalised service which assists people who have been affected by the bush fires or other emergency events. The service, which is available across the Hawkesbury, Lithgow and Blue Mountains areas, can provide assistance with information, decision-making and recovery resources.

Step by Step is focused on wellbeing, providing immediate emotional and social support. The program can also help with:

  • accessing grants
  • dealing with applications
  • insurance issues
  • linking people to other recovery resources and services.

The service is underpinned by the idea that people have the strength, resilience and capacity to rebuild their lives and shape their future.

After the 2013 bush fires, Step by Step assisted over 500 individuals and families, playing a crucial role in the recovery and building the ongoing resilience of the Blue Mountains community.

The service is flexible and customised. You can speak with a local support worker by phone, video call or other online tools - whatever technology you have available. In light of the most recent government measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Step by Step will be working creatively to continue to stay connected with people in ways that protect their health and wellbeing.
