We work closely with community organisations and government services to deliver positive outcomes for older people in the Blue Mountains community. Older people are an integral and essential part of our community and Council recognises that, as we grow older, we all should continue to enjoy a valued role and a meaningful life.

Our Blue Mountains population is ageing. Of all the 78,707 residents in the Blue Mountains in 2016, 14,774 people were over 65 years old; a total of 18.7%. As needs for this population group continue to grow, we assist in developing new services and connecting people with a diverse range of supports designed to allow older people to participate fully in community life.

Our Community Development team includes a specialist Aged Community worker, who is supported by a Social Researcher, a Program Leader and other team-members, all working together with staff across Council, community services and organisations.
