Blue Mountains City Library Service
Try these pages maintained by library staff:
- About the Blue Mountains: links to local demographics, local history, images and more. Responses to Frequently Asked Questions about the Blue Mountains are available to download (see right of screen).
Blue Mountains: links to local sites with local information. - Library Catalogue: the library has an extensive collection including books, DVDs, CDs, magazines and newspapers. The reference collection includes HSC, local history and family history collections. You can request items online.
- Premium Sites: specialised online resources that the library subscribes to on your behalf. Many of these sites can be accessed from the comfort of your home or anywhere else (you will need your library membership number).
- Recommended Sites: Links on a variety of topics selected by library staff
- Blue Mountains Library Delicious bookmarks: links from the library reference desk: select a tag appropriate to your topic on the right hand side.
Civics Education Kit
The Blue Mountains Civics Education Kit is based on material supplied by Blue Mountains City Council and the Local Government and Shires Association of NSW.
The Blue Mountains Civics Education Kit is designed to provide information of interest to students and teachers about local government and in particular, Blue Mountains City Council. This material is relevant to units of work prescribed in the Department of Education syllabus, particularly HSIE units on Democracy and Civics and Citizenship and is most suitable for primary school and junior high school.

Community Plan
Provides a demographic and socioeconomic overview with useful information about the population and community of the Blue Mountains. It also contains information on sustainable living and how the Council and stakeholders can meet the basic service needs of the community and other groups with special needs.
Environment and Waste Management
Our Environmental Information and Waste Management sections have a range of factsheets, photos and other educational resources to download. Our State of Environment reports are a good place to start if your project is about environmental issues in the Blue Mountains.

Useful for students studying a locality within the Blue Mountains Local Government Area. You can enter a town or even an address to obtain a map of that location.
Plans of Management for Community Land
Provide locality specific information about the physical environment, history, cultural values, and management issues and how Council plans to manage local areas.
Population Profile, Forecast and Social Atlas
For assignment questions that require information such as cultural diversity in the Blue Mountains, languages spoken at home, numbers of Aboriginal people, number of young people living in the area and employment statistics.
