East Timor Friendship Committee
In January 2005 Council establish a friendship relationship with Timor Leste (East Timor) and set up a Council and community committee to work with a community in Timor Leste.
The Blue Mountains has partnered with Hato Builico, one of the four Sub-Districts of Ainaro District. It is located inland south west of capital Dili, at an altitude of 2,400m above sea level on the slopes of Mount Ramelau (2,963m). The Friendship Committee is committed to working on the following Hato Builico needs, which are identified in the 'Blue Mountains City Council - Hato Builico Strategic Plan 2008':

Community Centre Refurbishment;

Sustainable Economic Development;

Health and Well Being;
-
Capacity Development;
-
Education and Training;
-
Capital Works Infrastructure; and

Governance and Partnerships.
The Friendship Committee also works in collaboration with other organisations of the Blue Mountains working in East Timor including:
