Group Focus and Response to Business Challenges 2008-2012
Key Priorities
Key priorities to be addressed by the Directorate over the next four years include:

Continuing work on Sustainable Asset Management strategy and plans to improve the management and condition of Council's built assets;

Continuing work on improving the financial sustainability of Council;

Implementing the Human Resource Strategy to ensure Council has a skilled and affordable workforce able to deliver Management Plan Outcomes;
-
Continuing work on the development of State of City monitoring and reporting and engaging with community on tracking progress in achieving the City Vision;
-
Improving Council's decision making so that it demonstrates achievement of a more sustainable organisation including providing staff with training to support implementation of Triple Bottom Line assessment and decision making;
-
Aligning work on Blue Mountains Service Provision framework (addressing who gets what services, when, where and why across the city) with Sustainable Asset Management work;
-
Project managing the development of a City-wide Blue Mountains Cultural Centre and Mixed Use Development in Katoomba;
-
Project managing the implementation of the Lawson Town Centre redevelopment project and seeking external funding to support required infrastructure development;
-
Continuing work to address strategic planning of the Springwood Town Centre in close consultation with relevant stakeholders;
-
Continuing work commenced in 2006-2007 to improve organisational and Group reporting and business systems including project reporting;
-
Developing four year (2008-2012) Service Level Agreements (SLAs);
-
Implementing and reporting on the Environmental Levy Program;
-
Developing key performance indicators and compliance monitoring systems for service delivery; and
-
Continuing implementation of major waste management projects.
