MODULE 4
Function and Role
The purpose of the City & Community Outcomes Directorate is to contribute to the delivery of community and corporate priorities through managing a range of external and internal services. In particular, the Directorate provides:
- Strategic service planning, management, program and policy development for a range of services delivered directly to the community including: burials and ashes placement, community development, community safety, cultural development, land use management, environmental management, sport and recreation, town centre amenity and development, traffic management and transport and public access (including roads).
- Strategic service planning, management, program and policy development for a range of corporate services supporting delivery of services to the community including: asset planning and management, contract management, city-wide strategic planning, major projects, provision and maintenance of Council buildings, and facilities and properties.
- Direct provision of services to the community for burials and ashes placement, community development, environmental management, waste resource management, water resource management, community safety, cultural development, land use management, libraries and information, sport and recreation, town centre amenity and development, traffic management and transport and public access (including roads).
In doing this work the Directorate aims to:
- Support the achievement of Sustainable Blue Mountains 2025;
- Support the achievement of objectives, outcomes and delivery targets set for Council’s 15 direct services to the community and the 14 corporate services that support the delivery of direct services;
- Contribute to the Council’s long term financial sustainability through effective and efficient service delivery and through implementing a range of initiatives aimed at increasing revenue and/or reducing expenditure; and
- Meet organisational responsiveness targets for Councillor Requests, Council Resolutions, General Customer Service Requests and Correspondence.
The Directorate is comprised of 6 Branches including:
- Executive
- Built Assets
- Environmental Sustainability
- City Planning
- Tourism & Economic Development; and
- Major Projects & Capital Works.
