Council operates two Waste Management Facilities (WMF) in the Blue Mountains.

Both facilities offer disposal services to the Blue Mountains community including:

  • mixed waste disposal
  • bulk resource recovery for sorted green waste, white goods, scrap metal, and building and demolition waste
  • car and truck tyres
  • inner spring mattresses
  • free delivery of sorted recyclables
  • twice yearly Household Hazardous Chemical Collection
  • secure collection of used motor oil and gas bottles

A reuse shed containing free second hand items is located at Katoomba WMF. The future upgrade plans for Blaxland WMF also include a reuse shed however this is currently unavailable.

Special waste deliveries (asbestos and animal carcasses) are only accepted at Blaxland WMF. Bookings need to be made at least 24 hours prior to delivery.
