Don't dump it... DONATE IT!

Mobile Phone Recycling

Do you have an old mobile phone you don't use? It can be re-used or recycled. Drop it off at one of the collection points for FREE.

What happens to the phones? Aussie Recycling Program (ARP) collects the phones. The majority of mobile phones are repaired (if necessary) and sent to developing countries for re-use. This allows communities in these countries access to affordable and modern communications. Those mobile phones that cannot be repaired are safely recycled.

Are there any other benefits? ARP make a donation to Council's chosen charity - Clean Up Australia - for every mobile phone received. Clean Up Australia uses this to contribute to their community environment programs.

What can be dropped off? You can drop off mobile phones, chargers, phone batteries and other accessories in the collection boxes.

Where are the collection points?

  • All Blue Mountains City Council Libraries (Blaxland, Springwood, Lawson, Wentworth Falls, Katoomba and Blackheath)

What if I can't get to these places? For those who are unable to take their mobile phone to these collection sites, Council has some special postage satchels that can be sent to you. You can then place your phone and battery in the satchel and post it to ARP at no cost. Phone Council on (02) 4780 5000 to have one sent to you.
