Household Services
Blue Mountains City Council (BMCC) provides the following services to households:

Weekly kerbside garbage collection (140 or 240 litre bin)

Weekly kerbside recycling collection (140 litre recycling bin)

Kerbside chipping services

Annual Clean Up service (once a year)

Household Hazardous Chemical Collections (4 times a year at the Waste Management Facilities)
Household Resource Recovery Guide
This guide provides the service dates for your kerbside chipping and also gives you accurate information on your recycling services, the new Eco Bin service, hazardous chemical collections and the sale of compost bins and worm farms. Download the Household Resource Recovery Guide (see right).
Household Chemical Collection
Hazardous waste should not be disposed of in your household bin, down the drain or into the soil. Please use the free chemical collections to safely dispose of this type of waste.
This waste includes:
- Liquid paint and paint related products
- Fire extinguishers
- Solvents
- Pesticides and herbicides
- Household cleaners
- Batteries
- Motor oils, fuels and liquids
- Smoke detectors
- Poisons
- Compact fluorescent light globes
- Pool Chemicals
- Gas bottles
- Acids and alkalis
- Hobby chemicals

Katoomba Waste Management Facility:
- 15 -18 May 2009
- 6 - 9 November 2009
Collection times: 9:00am - 4:30pm

Waste Audit Results
BMCC conducts waste audits every few years to survey the effectiveness of the services provided. The audits identify areas that need improvement so that resources can be directed appropriately. Results from the most recent audit can be downloaded at right.
