Blaxland RRWMF

Blaxland Resource Recovery and Waste Management Facility (RRWMF) currently provides the following free waste disposal services to the Blue Mountains community:

There is a small vehicle area that allows safe drop-off for:

  • Household recycling if source separated/sorted and uncontaminated
  • Scrap metal and car bodies
  • Car batteries, gas bottles, fire extinguishers and engine oil
  • Twice yearly collection of hazardous household chemicals
  • Televisions and computers* see our e-waste section for further details

If you have household chemicals, Katoomba RRWMF has facilities for disposal of certain chemicals year round. Refer to the Katoomba RRWMF page. Otherwise Blaxland RRWMF runs two free CleanOut events. Check our Chemical CleanOut section for further details.

Items accepted at Blaxland RRWMF during a Chemical CleanOut event ONLY:

  • Acids and alkalis
  • Fluoro globes and tubes
  • Paint and paint-related products
  • Poisons
  • Motor fuels and fluids 
  • Other oil
  • Household batteries 
  • Pool chemicals
  • Pesticides and herbicides
  • Smoke detectors
  • Household cleaners and solvents

Larger quantities of recyclables can be disposed of free of charge if source separated/sorted and uncontaminated.

Blaxland RRWMF also accepts other items for disposal. For a comprehensive list including special wastes such as asbestos, refer to our fees and charges page. Items charged are calculated by vehicle weight on a weighbridge at the entrance to the facility.
