Service Disruption - Katoomba Waste Management Facility - PARTIAL REOPENING

  • Part of the Katoomba Waste Management Facility reopened on Sunday 17 December.
  • The small vehicle area and community recycling centre are now open 8am-5pm.
  • Normal household waste items including green waste accepted.
  • All loads must be unloaded by hand and placed into the bins.
  • Vehicle size is restricted to 4.5 tonne GVM. No tipping vehicles accepted.
  • Other areas of the facility remain temporarily closed to public access until further notice as a precautionary measure in the interest public and employee health and safety in accordance with SafeWork NSW requirements and advice.
  • This is due to the identification of asbestos containing material in stockpiles on the upper platform.
  • Alternatives: utilise Council’s Blaxland Waste Management Facility in Attunga Road, Blaxland.
  • The duration of the temporary closure of the upper platform is not known at this stage. It is pending SafeWork NSW approval of the site remediation.

We apologise for any inconvenience. Thank you for your patience while this matter is resolved.
