• Dictionary of Sydney - Sydney's history online and connected
  The Dictionary of Sydney covers all kinds of history – engineering history, social and cultural history, economic history etc. It contains new historical writing enriched with other resources – images, maps, sound, music, oral history, film, documents and pointers to important objects in Sydney collections. New material is added regularly, and linked to what is already there. Geographically, the Dictionary of Sydney includes the whole Sydney basin (including the Blue Mountains) and spans the years from the earliest human habitation to the present. Contributors include academics, professional historians, heritage specialists, local studies experts, genealogists, enthusiasts, volunteers and readers.

Medieval History

• Medieval History - Life in the Middle Ages and Renaissance
  Grouped by subject, a collection of web sites relating to medieval history.
• Feudal life: what was it really like to live in the Middle Ages?  
  Inspired by a television series, this site includes an overview of feudal life in areas such as Religion, Health, Clothing, Arts and entertainment, Homes and Town life, and some of these have a short activity. A dictionary of Fedual terms of England is entertaining and the site gives background to the Magna Carta.

Modern History

• The Great War (1914-1918)  
  Including a chronology of the war, photographs and poetry, this is a large collection of sites and information relating to WWI.
• The Heritage of the Great War 1914-1918  
  A Dutch site containing essays, pictures, music and primary resource material. Much of the primary resource material is rare and includes many censored or forbidden graphic photographs.
• Australians at War  
  Designed by the Department of Veterans Affairs to complement the Australians at War TV series, and including animated documentaries, video, audio and activities, this site allows you to re-live some of the greatest events in our history, as seen through the eyes of the men and women who were there. Covers Boer War to present day.
• Australians at War  
  The Australian War Memorial website covering Australia's involvement in war from the time of the first settlement at Sydney Cove in the 18th Century to our peacekeeping roles under United Nations auspices and the Gulf War.
• Visit Gallipoli
  Provides information on the Gallipoli landing, construction of the ANZAC Commemorative Site and information on visiting Gallipoli today.
• Nineteenth Century Exploration of Australia  
  An excellent collection of maps and fact sheets for 21 different Australian explorers of the 19th Century.
• Australian Prime Ministers Centre
  Stories of Australia's Prime Ministers and their governments. Contains fact sheets and a reference enquiry service.

  This group of web sites provides a wealth of popular culture information, covering each year individually from 1960-1999. US based, though some information is still relevant to Australia, it includes music, movies, TV and books of the time, as well as sporting events, main news stories, and economic information and prices for everyday purchases.
