    Fact sheets are designed to introduce you to the records held by the archives on a variety of subjects and people. Some are a starting point for your research whilst some simply describe services and facilities.
  • State Records NSW (Archives)
    A good introduction to the State Archives including what you can expect to find there and several searchable on-line indexes.
  • Australian Family History Compendium
    An Internet resource for people researching their family tree, it contains information on a wide variety of categories related to genealogy, with a strong emphasis on Australian material.
  • Cyndi's List of Genealogy Sites
    A categorized and cross-referenced index to genealogical resources on the Internet and a research portal onto the Internet. Includes more than 200,000 links.
  • Helm's Genealogy Toolbox
    Premiering on the World Wide Web in February 1995, this site now includes one of the largest categorized list of genealogical links, as well as genealogical software profiles, search engines, digitized images, how-to articles, queries, and genealogical news stories.
  • Lineages
    This site caters to beginning researchers and family historians with software, research rooms, searchable databases, books and more. It also includes a "First Steps" section which introduces step-by-step methods for locating hard to find information.
  • Roots Web
    The oldest and largest free genealogy site on the internet with powerful search facilities, a database of some 300 million ancestor names, mailing lists, message boards, resource clusters and hundreds of genealogy web sites.

  • Ancestry Library Edition
    Ancestry Library Edition is a new genealogy research tool created for the library market, providing patrons with instant access to a wide range of unique resources for genealogical and historical research. With more than 1.5 billion names in over 4,000 databases, Ancestry Library Edition includes records from the United States Census; military records; court, land and probate records; vital and church records; directories; passenger lists and more!  Please Note: This database can only be access via a public PC within a Blue Mountains City Library branch.
