Previous Community Consultation
In 2007, Council commenced consultation on the needs for community and cultural facilities in Springwood with service providers and main user groups. This was undertaken with consideration of the requirements for future services, the space required for these services, feasibility of different options available and broad cost estimates. For more information, please refer to the Springwood Cultural and Community Facilities and Services: Needs Analysis which may be downloaded at right.
A further review of the community and cultural facilities in Springwood was completed in April 2010. This review assessed the existing community and cultural facilities in Springwood and examined the feasibility and requirements to upgrade these, which have long been identified as needing significant improvement. Council sought community opinion on different opportunities available to upgrade community and cultural facilities in Springwood, and ways to fund this work. Reports on the results of this consultation may be downloaded at right.
Subsequent to this work the Australian Government announced a grant to the Council of $9.5 million for the upgrade of Facilities. Planning work is now underway and it is expected that the upgrade work funded by this grant will be completed by the end of June 2014. A report outlining the Spatial Requirements for Facilities for upgrade of facilities can also be downloaded at right.
