Katoomba Civic Centre Redevelopment
Stage 1 Construction
The redevelopment of the Katoomba Civic Centre aims to achieve a new public connection to the planned Blue Mountains Cultural Centre as well as upgrading the well-used community facilities in the Civic Centre.
The redevelopment of the Katoomba Civic Centre will take place in two stages to allow for the retention of the library in its current location until such time as it can be relocated to the new premises within the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre building.
Preliminary work, including the installation of gas mains, heating and security equipment in the existing Katoomba Library and Dining Room and excavation for drainage work has recently been completed.
The major redevelopment of the Katoomba Civic Centre commenced on 19 October 2009 by contractor, Zadro Constructions. Stage 1 work has started with the erection of safety hoardings around sections of the Civic Centre and affected shops.
Residents are advised that the Tibby Whalan Hall in the Civic Centre is now closed for an estimated 2-year period. However, with the exception of unforeseen circumstances, residents are assured that the library and Civic Centre facilities are available for use throughout the construction work.
A site office has been established in the Tibby Whalan Hall. For further information contact:
