Registered Caterers and Mobile Food Vendors
If you are considering operating a catering business or a food van, you need to seek approval from Council.
Registered Caterers
This section contains requirements for food caterers as well as consumers looking for registered caterers in the Blue Mountains.
Food safety requirements apply to all food catering businesses in the Blue Mountains including spit roast caterers operating from a butchers shop or domestic premises in addition to those operating currently used as a restaurant or café or the like and known to Council.
To meet all the relevant food safety and hygiene requirements of the National Standards and be subsequently approved by Council to carry out home or corporate catering, a business operator is required to lodge a written application with Council, details of which which may be downloaded at right.
Council maintains a list of approved Registered Caterers which may be downloaded at right.
Mobile Food Vendors
Mobile Food Vendors are permitted to operate in certain areas of the Blue Mountains local government area, provided they have been inspected by Council's Environmental Health Officers and form part of the Mobile Food Vending Vehicle register.
To meet all the relevant food safety and hygiene requirements of the National Standards and be subsequently approved by Council, a business operator is required to lodge a written application with Council.
Once this is received you will be contacted by Council and requested to present your vehicle for an inspection.
