Filming Permit - Blue Mountains City Area

General Information

Applications to use areas under the Control of Council for the purpose of filming shall be subject to the issuing of appropriate approval by the Environmental and Customer Services Group. Applications can be obtained from the Customer Services Booking Officer Telephone (02) 4780 5613.

Approval Process

Applications for approval to film within the Blue Mountains Council area shall be made in writing and specify:

  • Address and details of the film location.
  • Dates and times for proposed preparation and filming of scenes, and size of production unit via number of personnel involved and number and dispersal of production vehicles.
  • Details of current Public Liability insurance cover.
  • Application should be made within sufficient time to enable proper consideration of the proposal. Fees will be assessed at the time of the application.

Fees: As listed per Schedule of Fees and Charges recorded on application form.

Insurance

Council shall be absolved from all and any liability which may result in respect of claims for damage to persons or property as a result of filming operations. Details of both property and public risk insurance are to be provided (to the value of $10 million) by attaching a current Certificate of Currency for Public Liability Insurance with the application. A completed Hold Harmless Agreement should also be lodged at the same time.

Rescheduling

Council shall be informed as soon as possible of any production delays necessitating extension or rescheduling of the filming date.

Cancellation

Cancellation Fee may be applied if application is cancelled within (7) Seven days of booking.

Conditions

  • In the event of any person being injured as result of your activities Council will no way be held responsible. When you return this application please provide a copy of your Public Liability Cover Certificate of Currency (10 million dollars) and completed Hold Harmless Agreement.
  • That care is taken to avoid any damage occurring to the natural environment as a result of your activities.
  • That the site is left in a clean and tidy condition following use of the site.
  • The organisation will be held responsible for any damage to the site as a result of the activity in reference and will pay compensation for any damage or cleaning resulting from the proposed activity.
  • That access is not restricted for visitors or emergency vehicles as a result of your activity, however it is acknowledged that the public will be restricted from accessing your "work site area" and that all necessary crowd control measures are in place.
  • The vehicles associated with your activity do not restrict more than 25% of available car parking space.
  • If filming will be conducted on Council road reserves then:
    • Adequate traffic control mechanisms are enforced, including trained traffic controllers.
    • The Local Police be notified of your activities.
  • Permission extends to land under the care and control of Blue Mountains City Council. Activities in the National Park require authorisation from the National Parks and Wildlife Service.
  • The use of planes or helicopters should be in accordance with the Fly Neighbourly Policy and follow all necessary safety procedures required. Planes or helicopters can only be landed in locations specifically approved for such use under Council's zoning conditions.
  • Full details of any constructions required must be attached to this application, and could be subject to the lodging of a Development Application to Council. You will be advised in writing if Development consent is applicable.
  • Blue Mountains City Council is to be acknowledged in all feature film credits.
