Clean Up Australia Day

Clean Up Australia Day

Each year in early March hundreds of thousands of Australians get involved in cleaning up their local environment by collecting and removing rubbish on Clean Up Australia Day. It's fun, easy and anyone can get involved. You can organise your own site or join in with another.

2012 was the 22nd anniversary of Clean Up Australia Day. Residents and schools from across the Blue Mountains got involved and made a difference with:
  • 26 registered clean up sites across the Mountains;
  • 19 local schools participating in the Schools Clean Up Day;
  • Over 7 tonnes of rubbish collected

Across Australia approximately 591,400 volunteers cleaned up over 16,000 tonnes of rubbish from 7,363 sites.

Clean Up Australia Day is always the first Sunday in March. Check the Clean Up website or advertisements in the Blue Mountains Gazette for specific sites and times.

Clean Up Australia Day 2013 will be held on Sunday 3 March. Businesses are encouraged to participate as well - refer to the Clean Up website for details. Schools Clean Up day is held on the preceding Friday.
