Clean Up Australia Day 2009
Put your gloves and boots on, grab a rubbish bag… and join a Clean Up Australia site near you on Sunday 7 March 2010.
- Business Clean Up Day – Tuesday 2 March 2010
- Schools Clean Up Day - Friday 5 March 2010
- Clean Up Australia Day - Sunday 7 March 2010
Each year in early March hundreds of thousands of Australians get involved in cleaning up their local environment by collecting and removing rubbish on Clean Up Australia Day. It’s fun, easy and anyone can get involved. You can organise your own site or join in with another.
Register your own site with Clean Up Australia www.cleanup.com.au or join in with another group. All registered sites will receive a free Clean Up kit and waste collection. The list of community sites is advertised in the Blue Mountains Gazette (February/March 2010).
'Clean Up Conversations' (guided interpretive walks) will also be conducted in the Mountains on Sunday 7 March 2010. More information will become available closer to the 2010 Clean Up Australia Day date.
In 2009 residents from across the Blue Mountains got involved and made a difference with:
- 31 registered clean up sites across the Mountains;
- 23 local schools participating in the Schools Clean Up Day;
- Over 295 volunteers, plus hundreds of school students; and
- Approximately 32 tonnes of rubbish collected.
