Clean Up Australia Day

Each year in early March hundreds of thousands of Australians get involved in cleaning up their local environment by collecting and removing rubbish on Clean Up Australia Day. It's fun, easy and anyone can get involved. You can organise your own site or join in with another.

2010 was the 20th anniversary of Clean Up Australia Day. Residents and schools from across the Blue Mountains got involved and made a difference with:

  • 27 registered clean up sites across the Mountains;
  • 12 local schools participating in the Schools Clean Up Day;
  • Over 25 tonnes of rubbish collected; and
  • 236,100 volunteers in NSW.

Clean Up Australia Day is always the first Sunday in March. Check the Clean Up website or advertisements in the Blue Mountains Gazette for specific sites and times.

Clean Up Australia Day 2012 will be held on 4 March for community participation.

Schools Clean Up Australia Day 2012 will be held on 2 March. Businesses are encouraged to participate as well - refer to the Clean Up website for details.
