This program has been developed by BMCC to help food handlers to assess their food hygiene and food safety skills in an educative non-threatening environment.

New National Food Safety Standards introduced by the Australia New Zealand Food Authority (ANZFA) in 2001 represent a fresh approach to food laws. A component of the new Standards (from February 2002) required food handlers and supervisors to have appropriate knowledge and skills in food safety and food hygiene in keeping with their work activity.

'Food On Your Lap' is a program developed to improve such skills and knowledge.
